Samuel Freedman presents annual Kristalnacht program
Mah Tovu will be hosting our annual lecture commemorating Kristallnacht on Sunday, October 27 from 4:30-6 pm at Mah Tovu, 7315 N. Western Ave, Chicago, and will be preceded by Mincha at 4:00 pm. The program will be streamed on Zoom as well..
This year our speaker will be Samuel G. Freedman of Columbia University who will be speaking on “Fighting Hatred in the Heartland: Hubert Humphrey’s Battles Against Bigotry in Mid-Century America”. Sam Friedman is one of the nation’s most prominent commentators on American religion. His work spans a multitude of themes in journalism, history, politics, and culture. Many of you might know Sam from his long service as chief religion writer for the New York Times or his book, Jew vs. Jew. This annual lecture is generously funded by the Martin and Henrietta Fox Memorial Fund (originally bequeathed to Ezra Habonim Congregation).
